Helmut Leopold

Since 2009, Dr. Leopold is with the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology where he heads the Digital Safety and Security Center. Before AIT he was with Alcatel and with Telekom Austria, the largest network operator in Austria. As acting CTO ‎he was the driving force of the ‎broadband product innovation program and the role out of the interactive multimedia services. During his whole career he has always been actively involved in research projects at European level as well as in international standardization. He acts as evaluator for the R&D programs of the European Commission and was lecturer at different Universities. Helmut Leopold was and is always active in various industry bodies and international initiatives. He was chairman of the Broadband Services Forum (BSF), San Francisco, USA, was Vice President of the Austrian Telecommunication Research Center (FTW) and President of the Austrian IPv6 Taskforce. Currently he is president of the Austrian Organization for Information and Communication Technology (GIT) and Board Member of the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE).
